Front Page News

Lake Superior- Near Munising, Michigan
I moved to Boston from a remote town of 1300 people in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan exactly 26 years ago last week. (Think: 45 minute drive to go to a movie…on a road that gets closed a lot during the winter due to storms off the lake.)

I still subscribe to my home town newspaper. There in a photo on the front page of the latest edition is: my junior prom date. He has loaned the library his collections of rocks and minerals and this is really, really big front page news.

I need to find time to walk along a beach and look for pretty rocks again.

I'm surprised Bonita left you alone long enough to take that shot. ;^)

Hee hee. The photo was taken in 1984 B.B. (Before Bonita.)

It's nice to hear that in some places not all front page new stories are homicides!

Dave- Did you say homicide?! This week's paper features a front page story of a woman who "fell" from the cliffs to her death...near where I took that photo! Husband and wife were camping alone...He said she accidentally fell when he wasn't looking. No witnesses. Hmmmm??!!

Wow! This really rocks! :-) Of course, with NetFlix and its competitors, you wouldn't have to drive to the movie theater. Of course, there would be no jobs in your natal town . . .
I lived in a small town in Pennsylvania a few decades ago. They still talked bout a homicide that had happened the decade before I was there. Kinda nice. If you get troll news (under the bridge) from Michigan, you might have heard that Windsor, Ontario had its first police office death in the 154 year history of the force. The officer was in plain clothes. Windsor is just south of Detroit in Canada, of course. Detroit has one of the worst homicide rates in the U.S. Makes you wonder.
