Don't Even Think About It

Calm Days: "No one is allowed in the water because of deadly riptides".
Not-So Calm Days: "No one is allowed even near the water. Don'te even pretend to go anywhere close to the shore. Just wipe that look off your face that says you are thinking about going in the water. You know what, lady? Don't even gaze out to sea."

The Wedding Crashers

Our beach chairs were right on the border of where the sunbathing ended and the weddings were performed. Two days in a row we watched uninvited, as strangers got hitched while we lounged in our bathing suits, slathered with SPF 15. We sipped our margaritas and quietly speculated about the future of both couples.

The Dogwood Tree At Nine p.m.

Another six inches of snow today.

It is so wet and heavy that the branches of the dogwood tree are bending down and touching the outside lamp post. You have to duck under all of this frozen-light-coolness to get into the house. Makes shoveling (again) seem not so bad.
