Under The Dogwood Tree

Cochituate, Massachusetts
This time of year I thank the people who lived here before us for planting the wonderful dogwood tree next to the 2nd story deck. We sit at the table right under the blossoms that shade us.

Thanks everyone! I like the challenge of shooting flowers in black and white. It forces me to pay much more attention to the composition and lighting. Plus, if I ruled the world everything would be black and white anyway. ;-)

Ps. Hope you don't mind.

"Under The Dogwood Tree" is being appreciated by everyone at my place of employment.

"What a beautiful desktop! What kind of flowers are they?"

I say "Dogwood, in black and white" ;)

Thanks Trena- I'm honored that you'd want to start your work day looking at my dogwood blossoms!

I suggest this as an excellent cover for a collection of the beer lover's haiku...

matt - are you suggesting that I have a tendency to peer quizzically at objects above me as I lie on my back in a beer-induced stupor? Just checking... :^)

This dogwood tree was in full bloom the first time Mr. extraspecialbitter came to the house oh-so-many years ago. Its blooming definitely marks the passing of time for me. Now that I'm in a romantic/nostalgic mood I think that if he asked me nice I'd probably agree to do the cover of his next chapbook ;-)
