Matt - The All Music Guide shows that a British band called The Inmates covered "Dirty Water" with Londonized lyrics in 1979, but that it was originally recorded by the Standells in 1966. Oddly enough, the band and songwriter Ed Cobb were both from Los Angeles. Go figure!
Thanks Paul - my brother had that 45, so it was drilled into the memory. The Inmates were in a Dr Feelgood vein btw. And if you are from LA, looking at the dirty water of Beantown is probably a pleasant novelty...

Oh man, I love that song.
Nice cityscape! Makes me want to visit Boston again. I had a helluva good time there a few years ago.
Yeah, we rented "When Stand-Up Stood Out" this week and that song played at the end of the movie. It has been in my head ever since!
oh! nice, moody shot of Boston. Love the clouds rolling in.
gorgeous!
Maybe the you or the beer lover will correct me, but wasn't Dirty Water a Dr Feelgood song, with "London, you're my home" the original line?
